Managing hub licenses

This article reviews how you can use our licensing system. Licensing is a breeze with Vendr, and gives you peace of mind with your products. More importantly, our tools help make sure you stay in complete control of your products by allowing you to revoke and give licenses on demand.

Managing hub licenses requires that the user running the command has a staff role or a role with the Administrator permission.

Granting a license

In order to grant a user a hub license, they must have their account linked to Vendr. If the user has not been linked yet, you'll receive an error indicating that they need to link their account first.

In your server, run the /give command with Vendr followed by the user and the product you wish to give that user. The product name must be spelled correctly with proper capitalization.

Once you have given the license the target user will receive a DM with a confirmation and a link to download the file. The user will also be whitelisted to use the product.

Revoking a license

Revoking a license revokes permission to use the product from the target user. It also prevents them from downloading it using the link the bot provides.

Run the /revoke command in your server with Vendr followed by the user and the product you wish to revoke from that user. The product name must be spelled correctly with proper capitalization.

After running the command, the user's rights to download the product will be revoked, and will no longer work if the product contains a whitelist. There is nothing else you need to do afterwards.

Transferring a license

Transferring a license changes the ownership of a license from one user to another. This means that when a product is transferred, the old owner will no longer have access to the product while the new owner will gain access to the product. Staff members or above only have access to this command.

Run the /transfer command in your server with Vendr followed by the product you are transferring, the user who's license is being transferred and the user receiving the transferred license. The product name must be spelled correctly with proper capitalization.

After running the command, the user who's license was just transferred will lose the rights to use the product, and the user who received the license from the transfer will be whitelisted and gain access to the product, and will receive further information about it in their DMs. There is nothing you need to do after that.
